Honors Thesis on the Business Case for Accessible Travel
Project:
Thesis Research
Date:
January 2024 - December 2025
For my honors thesis, I am leading an academic research study that combines both quantitative and qualitative analyses to explore effective strategies for disability-inclusive and accessible services in the travel and tourism industry. Using surveys, interviews, and empirical data, my project aims to identify profitable approaches for integrating accessibility into travel services, benefiting both disabled individuals and businesses.
As a Voyager Scholarship recipient via the Obama Foundation, I had the opportunity to delve deeper into this research this summer, supported by a $10,000 stipend and $4,000 in Airbnb credits for global travel. Throughout my summer, I investigated how different cities and companies address accessibility challenges and develop solutions that enhance travel experiences for disabled people while remaining profitable. This research is crucial for understanding how businesses can prioritize accessibility and leverage it to create inclusive, successful services.
