This project focused on translating disability policy research into formal institutional action. The goal was to move disability inclusion from advocacy into adopted governance.
I authored a statewide resolution within the California Community College system that embedded disability as a recognized area of institutional responsibility. The resolution established expectations for disability focused programming, curricular inclusion, and outcomes tracking across campuses. Drafting required alignment with existing governance processes while introducing new accountability language.
A key challenge was securing consensus across a large and decentralized system. I worked with student leaders and institutional stakeholders to refine language that could pass while preserving substance. The resolution was advanced through formal legislative channels and approved at the statewide level.
The resolution expanded disability specific curriculum and strengthened accountability practices across California community colleges. It now serves as a policy reference point for campuses seeking to formalize disability inclusion within governance structures.
